Incendiary single from the forthcoming Tolika Mtoliki album from The Brother Moves On.

“You Think You Know me” re-visits and re-inserts Mongezi Feza’s classic anthem “You Ain't Gonna Know Me Because You Think You Know Me" into the volatile context of South Africa’s inheritance of corruption, Covid state violence and capture.

The songs on the forthcoming album Tolika Mtoliki are critical shards of a fractured sonic, social and political inheritance. They are the sound-work of the elders – Mongezi Feza, Johnny Dyani, the Malopoets, Batsumi, and Philip Tabane, and they come with a blessing from Moses Taiwa Molelekwa. Called into the circle for this session, they speak old wisdom in new voices, and what they have to give is not measured in distance from a so-called original version. These songs are not reducible to reference recordings, nor to staff notation. They are spirits of sound, summoned from the past for the sake of the present, taking up old roles as heralds of a mended future.

Once again, as before, they announce a work of healing.
